The complexity of the clinical issues experienced by our patients and the big data resulting from our research demonstrated the need to include both computer science and engineering as important discipline partners in the PKT program. We have benefited not only from the expertise of the engineering faculty but also from the energy and curiosity of the students. These students, who will be the future leaders in big data, are currently working on class projects with real world patient data and solving real world problems that are not only time sensitive but critical to our patient’s health.
