Dr. Maria Bruzzone is the Medical Director of Precision Ketogenic Therapy (PKT) for the adult patients. She received her medical degree from the Universidad de la República, Uruguay. She pursued a neurology residency at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, Illinois, which she completed in 2016. She then completed a fellowship training in Neurophysiology/Epilepsy at the University of Chicago Medical Center in 2017.
She started working at UF neurology in 2018 and completed a master’s degree in clinical research in 2021. She has experience in the treatment of patients with medication resistant epilepsy and has special interest in the dietary treatment of epilepsy. She has been working with Dr. Borum since 2020 in the development of the adult Precision Ketogenic Therapy clinic at UF, the only clinic in the state of Florida that offers specialized dietary therapy for adults with medication resistant epilepsy.
Dr. Bruzzone is board certified in neurology and epilepsy. She is fluent in Spanish (native speaker).
No. Most of the visits are performed via zoom using our telemedicine services. You need to travel to see us once prior to initiating the diet so we can obtain some measurements of your body. Most of the follow up visits are completed via telemedicine.
For extra credit, students choose from more than 100 potential topics or submit a proposal for a different topic. The topic is reviewed and discussed in a paper using peer–reviewed sources.
